Our Calling

We are a charismatic prayer group based in Monaghan called by the Holy Spirit to reach out and enlarge Gods territory here on earth. The Lord is commissioning us just as he did his Apostles to preach the Good News and to gather in the lost sheep. We come together to encourage each other, help each other to be equipped for this mission. So we ask God to bless us and keep us from evil and not cause pain to anyone. Lord give us your will then ask of us what you want and give us the strength and the grace to do your will always.

Background history

The Monaghan Charismatic Prayer Group was formed in January 1975 in Montfort House Monaghan by Fr Ronnie Mitchell and Sr.Elaine Sheridan .The Group has grown steadily over the years and been a great source of out reach to the people of Monaghan and the surrounding areas. This Group has worked and continues to work under the obedience of our Bishop. Our present Bishop Joseph Duffy has always blessed and encouraged the Group and takes part in some of the program each year. The closure of Montfort House in the summer of 2002 came as a great shock to everyone and left the group with no venue and with no spiritual leader as Fr Ronnie was to be moved to England . The people lost heart and their spirits were very low at this time, but thanks to the Holy Spirit we found a new venue in St Louis Convent Chapel and the spiritual director to the Group is still Fr Ronnie Mitchell. We moved into the new venue in March 2003 with a healing mass celebrated by our spiritual director . The Monaghan Charismatic Prayer Group continues to grow and with Gods help will reach out to the people he wants us to reach.
